Professor Hosmane Honored By Indian Institute

The NRI Institute honored the People of Indian Origin from across the world with Pravasi Awards 2007. The awards were presented at the NRI Divas, a two-day event dedicated to the NRIs and PIOs, at the Hotel InterContinental The Grand New Delhi in India, on January 7-8, 2008.

The institute presented eight Lifetime Achievement Pravasi Awards to NRI's who are living in countries like UK, USA, Tanzania, Abu Dhabi, Fiji and Kenya. Narayan S. Hosmane was the recipient of one of those eight awards and a Bharath Samman Medal, both of which were presented to him by the former Prime Minister of India I.K. Gujral. With an estimate of 25 million NRIs, this is a considerable honor.

In 1994, Hosmane was awarded an India International Gold Medal and Mother India International Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Education (Chemistry) from the NRI Institute in New Delhi, India. In 2007, he received the Pride of India Gold Award from the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the Institute.

Also recently, Hosmane was featured in an article published by NRI Achievers magazine in its January-March 2008 issue.
