Graduate Programs

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers two graduate programs leading to a Master of Science (M.S.) or a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Chemistry.

  • Students interested in obtaining the Master's Degree may select from three options — thesis, essay, or teacher certification.
  • Prospective candidates of the Ph.D. Degree may do advanced study and research in analytical, biological, inorganic, organic, or physical chemistry.
  • Choose NIU Chemistry! for our student-to-faculty ratio, faculty research, location, job opportunities, reputation and more.
  • And, check out the financial support you could receive towards your graduate work at NIU.
